Movie Editing
Are you a film geek? Hey, join the club. I'm a movie nut myself. Now, I'm not talking about just watching new flicks every Friday night. I'm talking about making them. Well, or so to speak. You see, I'm a writer, and my absolute favorite things to write are movies. How about you? Are you involved in movie making some how? Maybe you're anxious to get that DP internship or become the next Hitchcock. Or just maybe you're into movie editing and the clean-up process. You know, where they literally spend hour after hour trying to get those scenes chopped up and cut to perfection. It's all about the final movie editing in the end. Even if you're not a big film maker in Tinsel Town, this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy shooting and editing your own personal stuff. Do you have your hand-held and Mac ready?

Western Movie Posters
So the classic interpersonal dynamics prompt came up again—this time on the starkly hilarious show, The Office: if you could take five movies to a deserted island, what five titles would you choose? I’m thinking it’s time to reshape that question, so that lovers of a specific genre get a fair chance. And at the same time, how about if with each of the film choices you get the original western movie posters to go with, given how you will have nothing else to hang on your hut or cave walls?

Seen any good movies lately? Okay, the fact is there haven't been a lot to choose from. I mean come on; is anything not a re-make or a sequel these days? Now I know for a fact that loads of screenwriters across the world are constantly pumping out new scripts. Probably one hundred thousand a year or so. Therefore, the problem lies within the inner circle of Hollywood. The movie business has just gone down hill.

Classical Movie
The classical movie has got to be one of the finest “inventions” since the stapler. The classical movie is the one which we got the benefit of when we were kids, when only three television channels and limited viewing opportunities were given reprieve because Saturday afternoons and Sundays—when Dad wasn’t sucked into The Wide World of Sports—held movies from the past, movies featuring the glamour girls and the males gallant that had long since passed out of our existence.

Current Broadway Shows
Forget the critics, forget the costs; the imperative here is to see the current Broadway shows any way you can. See Neil Simon’s version of John Waters’ HAIRSPRAY. See the classics, like PHANTOM OF THE OPERA; LITTLE WOMEN; WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?; JULIUS CAESAR; FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Take in the more playful MAMMA MIA. Indulge in the grander THE LION KING. Revisit your passions in your favorite operas by attending the LA BOHEME re-make, RENT. But see current Broadway shows, one way or another.
